Blue Sky Floral Designs are based on the ancient art of Ikebana, and more specifically the free style variation known as Moribana. The name literally means "piled-up flowers."

Ikebana was introduced in Japan by Chinese Buddhist missionaries around the 6th century. The positioning and length of the flowers and branches relate to among other things, the heavens above, the earth and man.

As the style evolved in Japan, it was simplified and became a way of bringing nature indoors. The key is using a minimal amount of material and following the ancient principles. That way you can truly appreciate the style, grace and beauty of the flowers, branches and the arrangement itself.
